Lady Tigers beat Sisseton

• Groton Area defeated Sisseton Thursday night in Sisseton, 61-55.
• Groton led at the quarterstops at 21-12, 40-26 and 51-37.
• Courtney Kurtz led the Tigers with 17 points followed by Camille Sippel with 17, Carly Wheeting had 13, Tori Bjerke seven and Halle Dohman, Kylie Hawkins and Ashley Gibbs each had two.
• Groton made 21 of 39 field goals, 20 of 26 free throws, had 18 rebounds with Wheeting having six and Sippel five, 14 steals with Kurtz having seven, and six steals with Kurtz having four. Groton had 22 turnovers and 18 fouls.
• Groton won the junior varsity game, 35-32, in overtime. Tori Bjerke led the Tigers with nine points followed by Emily Locke with eight, Marlee Jones had six, Audrey Wanner five, Katie Koehler three and Rachel Blackmun and Taryn Rossow each had two points. In the overtime, Locke made four of six free throws for all of the scoring in the extra period.
