Dakotas reservation death tied to propane crisis

• FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) -- Authorities are tying the death of a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in the Dakotas to a propane crisis there.
• Tribal and Sioux County authorities tell The Bismarck Tribune and KXMB-TV that Debbie Dogskin was found dead on Tuesday morning in a Fort Yates mobile home that had an empty propane tank. The overnight low temperature dropped to about zero that day.
• Dogskin was in her early 50s. A cause of death wasn't announced. The Bureau of Indian Affairs declined comment.
• The tribe has declared a state of emergency because about 5,000 homes on the reservation that straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border are heated by propane. The fuel has more than doubled in price because of a nationwide shortage.

Former Lincoln YWCA director sentenced for theft

• LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- The former executive director of the Lincoln YWCA has been sent to prison for stealing thousands of dollars while working there.
• Online court records say 42-year-old Denise Serrett on Tuesday was given four to five years in prison and ordered to pay restitution of more than $27,800. She'd pleaded no contest to felony theft.
• Serrett, who also is known as Denise Scholl-Serrett, had resigned in February last year, just days before she was sentenced to probation for stealing from a former employer.
• YWCA officials audited the nonprofit's books for December 2011 through February 2013 after learning that Serrett had stolen thousands of dollars from Omaha-based property management company DEI Communities, where she had been vice president of human resources.
• Serrett has since moved to Brookings, S.D.
