16th Avenue residents want help for their street

Fred Johnson and Brenda Englund were present to talk about 16th Avenue east of Sixth Street. They have been taking care of the street for 10 years and are now asking for help. "The way Jacobson's developed the area was not favorable for us," Englund said. That section of 16th Avenue is private property. "We live in the city and pay city taxes, but we flip the bill for street maintenance," Englund said.
"We asked the Jacobsons to replat it, but they would not do it," Englund said. "We were told that the city would eventually take over the street."
Englund said she is a single mother with two kids and is concerned if there is an emergency, how would they get out if they are snowed in. "Jesse Howard has been clearing the street out of the goodness of his heart," Johnson said. Each property owner owns 11 feet of the "street." There is a common easement of the 11 feet on
