•  This week, Hunhoff and three other Democratic leaders outlined a large package of initiatives -- including measures offered by the governor and both Republican and Democratic legislators -- as a roadmap to a stronger economic environment.
•  Sen. Jason Frerichs, the Senate Minority Leader, said the biggest factor is education. "Our schools were struggling with funding before 2011, and then the Legislature drastically cut the budgets -- causing further declines in the very programs that help prepare students for the workplace," said the Wilmot farmer. "The most urgent need is to restore important programs related to college readiness and career and technical training."
