Sioux Falls police investigating casino robberies

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police are investigating a pair of early-morning armed robberies at separate casinos.
• Police responded to Duces Casino Monday shortly after midnight. Authorities say a man robbed a clerk at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was described as a white male, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 inches tall.
• Police were called to Paradise Casino at 1:51 a.m. Monday. A casino employee says one man threatened her with a knife and demanded money from the till while another man stayed at the door. The men fled with an undetermined amount of cash.
• The suspect with a knife was described as a white male, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 inches tall.

Dakota Cash ticket in Sioux Falls worth $79.8K

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A Dakota Cash ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $79,809 in the latest drawing.
• South Dakota Lottery officials say the ticket matched all five numbers in Saturday's drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of winning the top prize in Dakota Cash are about 1 in 324,632.
• Dakota Cash is played and won only in South Dakota. The jackpot starts again at $20,000 for the next drawing, on Wednesday.

SD lawmaker will try to ban texting while driving

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota lawmakers plans to press "send" again and try to persuade his colleagues in the Legislature to join 41 other states and ban texting while driving.
• Similar measure have failed in recent legislative sessions, but Sen. Mike Vehle, of Mitchell, said texting behind the wheel is obviously dangerous because it diverts a driver's attention from the road. A law banning the practice would persuade more people to stop texting while driving simply because it would be illegal, the Republican said.
