• Coach Greg Kjellsen said they wanted to limit the Heumiller kid. "He's a real good player and to hold him to eight points in the game was good. Mason did a great job defending him." Heumiller's eight points were all in the first half.
• "It's the first time we faced a lot of zone defense," Kjellsen said. "You work on it in practice, but everyone does it a little differently. We lived by the three today, but we need to get more touches inside.
• "We play Tiospa Zina on Monday. I don't know much about them, except that they're a scrappy team. They're all over you--they're aggressive and foul."
• The Groton girls won the junior varsity game, 41-22. Audrey Wanner and Katie Koehler each had nine, Nicole Fey and Natalia Dohman each had seven, Ashley Gibbs had five and Maryn Howard and Emilie Locke each had two points
• The boys won the junior varsity game, 42-37, to make it a clean sweep for Groton on the night.
• Wyatt Larson led Groton with 20 points followed by Sean Schuring with 12, Lucas Sternhagen had six, Bennett Shabazz had three and Seric Shabazz added one free throw.
