Cage teams have clean sweep over Mobridge

• Both of the basketball teams are back on the winning track. The girls defeated Mobridge-Pollock, 49-37. Courtney Kurtz led Groton with a season high 28 points. Kylie Hawkins had five, Carly Wheeting and Tori Bjerke each had four, Halle Dohman and Camille Sippel each had three and Natalia Dohman added two points.
• Groton made 17 of 42 field goals while Mobridge was eight of 23. Groton made nine of 18 free throws off of Mobridge's 14 team fouls and Mobridge made three of six free throws off of Groton's 12 team fouls. Groton had 15 turnovers, five of which were steals. Mobridge had 29 turnovers, 20 of which were steals with Kurtz having eight and Sippel four. Kurtz had four and Sippel three of the team's 20 assists. Sippel led the Tigers on the boards with five rebounds while Hawkins and Bjerke each had four.
• Kaillin Goodshield led Mobridge with 14 points followed by Chelsey Hoffman with 10, Andrea Kromen had six, Naomi Storedek had four, ReAnne Kohlus two and Alexa Schaefbauer added one free throw.
• Coach Shaun Wanner said the Lady Tigers came off a game with Roncalli where there was a lot of energy and a lot of excitement. "Then we come back and play at 3:30 in the afternoon. I told the girls they just have to find a way to win. We played relaxed, I think too relaxed at times.
• "Now we have to get ready for Milbank. They're 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference, exactly the same as us. Milbank has size that concerns me and they have one of the best players in the conference. We're going to have our hands full with her and they have a good guard. We'll have to go on the road and it's not going to be easy, but our girls are used to it."
• The boys team also won, 56-38.  Reilly Ell led Groton with 17 points which included five three-pointers. Lucas Sternhagen had 12 points and Mason Madsen had a double feature night with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
• Parker Rossow added eight, Kyler Ell four, Wyatt Lone two and Kasey Kurtz had one free throw.
• Groton made 38 percent of its field goals while Mobridge made 30 percent. Groton was 13 of 18 from the line for 72 percent off of Mobridge's 17 team fouls. Mobridge made nine of 18 free throws for 72 percent off of Groton's seven team fouls.
• Groton had 10 turnovers, five of which were steals. Mobridge had 13 turnovers, seven of which were steals with Reilly Ell having three steals and Mason Madsen two. Kurtz had five of the team's 11 assists.
• Mobridge was led in scoring by Mason Keller with 13 points followed by Preston Fredrick with 11, Michel Heumiller had eight, Reece Wientjes four and Noah Chase
