Sports Notes

Groton's wrestling team went to Miller yesterday and had two wrestlers in the championship match. Kelby Hawkins lost his first match of the year in the championship match, losing to Oliver Aesoph of Faulkton, 6-5. Aesoph scored a two-point reversal in the third quarter to pull out the win. Jeric Albrecht also placed second as he was pinned by Jakob Weisbrod, Clark-Willow Lake in 3:59.  Albrecht was leading at the time of the pin, 7-6.

Both of the basketball teams are back on the winning track. The girls defeated Mobridge-Pollock, 49-37. Courtney Kurtz led Groton with a season high 28 points.

The boys team also won, 56-38.  Reilly Ell led Groton with 17 points which included five three-pointers. Mason Madsen and Lucas Sternhagen each had 12 points.
