Corn and soy stocks up in South Dakota

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Stocks of corn and soybeans are up in South Dakota.
• The U.S. Department of Agriculture says corn stocks on Dec. 1 totaled 644 million bushels, up 66 percent from the same date in 2012. Of that total, 410 million bushels are stored on farms, a 71 percent jump, and 234 million bushels are stored off-farm, a 59 percent rise.
• The bushels of soybeans stored on Dec. 1 totaled 104 million, up 30 percent from last year. On-farm stocks are 48 million bushels, up 33 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 56 million bushels, are up 26 percent from 2012.
• All wheat stored totaled 50.9 million bushels, down 16 percent from a year ago. Oats in storage totaled 5.64 million bushels, more than double of last year's stocks.

Luis Jacobo leads IPFW past South Dakota St. 82-75

• FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) -- Luis Jacobo tied a season high by scoring 24 points to lead Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne past South Dakota State 82-75 Saturday night.
• Pierre Bland's layup with 12:51 left gave IPFW (14-5, 2-0 Summit League) a 57-56 lead and sparked an 8-0 run by the Mastodons, who wouldn't trail again.
• Chad White hit a 3-point shot with 3:22 remaining, pulling South Dakota State (9-8, 1-1) within 74-70, but IPFW's Steve Forbes responded with a conventional three-point play and following a missed jumper by Cody Larson, Mo Evans knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the IPFW lead to nine and the Mastodons held on from there.
• IPFW dominated the interior, out-rebounding the Jackrabbits 12-4 on the offensive glass while out-scoring them 12-4 on second-chance opportunities. IPFW held a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.
• Brayden Carlson scored a career-high 24 points to pace SDSU.
• Forbes finished with 16.
