Lady Tigers' cold shooting in loss to Roncalli

• Coach Shaun Wanner said he will be happy to finally play a home game. The Tigers have played the last six games on the road. The Lady Tigers lost a 47-39 game to Aberdeen Roncalli Friday night in Aberdeen.
• "This was the second time in three years that we shot in the low 20's," Wanner said, "and it was still a close game." The Lady Tigers made 25 percent of their field goals, making 14 of 55 shots. The Tigers were seven of 35 in the first half. Other than that, the Tigers outplayed the Cavaliers by having more rebounds, making more free throws and having fewer turnovers, according to Wanner.
• Roncalli had a 13-9 first quarter lead and the game was tied at 20 at half time. Roncalli held a 32-31 lead at the end of the third quarter.
• Courtney Kurtz led the Tigers with 14 points followed by Carly Wheeting with 11, Camille Sippel had five, Ashley Gibbs three and Halle Dohman, Kylie Hawkins and Natalia Dohman each had two points.
• Roncalli was led by Kate Heintzman with 16 followed by Paige Sommers with 10, Mikayla Malsam eight, Hailey Kline five and Emily Bohle and Abby Vogel each had four points.
• Groton made 11 of 21 free throws off of Roncalli's 18 team fouls and Roncalli made seven of 10 free throws off of Groton's 15 team fouls with Kurtz fouling out. The Tigers had 30 rebounds with Wheeting having nine and Kylie Hawkins having five. Groton had 12 steals with Kurtz having five and Kurtz had one assist.
• Groton is now 6-2 on the season and will host Mobridge-Pollock today. The visiting Tigers are 0-7 on the season.
• Groton won the junior varsity game, 33-24. Katie Koehler and Natalia Dohman each had 10 points followed by Emilie Locke with three and adding two points each were Audrey Wanner, Ashley Gibbs, Torri Bjerke, Rachel Blackmun and Maryn Howard.
