SD Highway Patrol gets $8,500 to buy drug dog

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Highway Patrol is getting $8,500 to buy a police service dog that will be used in drug investigations.
• Attorney General Marty Jackley says the money comes from the state Drug Control Fund, which holds money taken from people engaged in criminal activities.
• Jackley says the addition of another service dog will help the Highway Patrol enforce drug laws across the state.

Sanford opening newest clinic in Sioux Falls

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Dakotas-based Sanford Health is opening its newest clinic in Sioux Falls on Monday.
• Sanford says an open-house is being held on Saturday at the family medicine and pediatric facility is at the corner of 69th Street and Louise Avenue. The 24,000-square-foot facility has 36 exam rooms with four pediatricians and one family medicine provider will practice.
• Pediatrician Candice Nelson says the clinic was tailor-made for families with I-Spy graphics in the exam rooms to color-coordinated signs pointing patients in the right direction.
• The clinic also features a community room that can be used for educational opportunities for patients, such as parenting classes.
• Sanford Health is based in Sioux Falls and Fargo, N.D.

ND politicians meeting with BNSF chairman in Texas

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota political leaders are making a path to the office of BNSF Railway officials in Texas.
• Sens. Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven and Gov. Jack Dalrymple are meeting separately with BNSF Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Rose as part of their trip to Texas to watch the North Dakota State football team in the national championship.
• They are talking with Rose about the train derailment in Casselton.
• No one was hurt in Monday's crash and fire, which happened when a train carrying soybeans derailed in front of a train hauling crude oil from western North Dakota
