• 7th Health - Mrs. Seibel
• Our main focus during the second nine-weeks was in the field of nutrition.  Each student used a web site to learn just exactly how much food he or she should eat daily.  Students also learned about the benefits from eating foods from all food groups.  Labs were performed on food labels, fats, sugars, and salts.  At the end of the nine weeks, we changed our focus to learning about human growth and development which included the topics of physical, emotional, social changes of puberty, female and male reproductive systems, and inherited and acquired traits.

• 6th Grade Reading - Mrs. Mary Johnson
• Surivial is the name of the game for one section of sixth grade reading.  They are currently reading the novel The Hatchet.  Its' a story about a 12 year old boy that is stranded in the Canadian wilderness.  He needs to survive until a rescue party finds him.  This story has created great conversation among the students and presented some interesting problem solving.  The other section of reading is in our reading series book.  They are reading different short stories about honesty, creating excitement, and building green.

• 6th grade Social Studies - Mrs. Mary Johnson
• The sixth graders are traveling back in time to Ancient Greece.  We have talked about the earliest people of the area.  We read shortened versions of Homer's epic poems "The Iliad" and" The Odyssey".  When we return from Christmas break, the types of government, comparison of Sparta and Athens, and the contributions to art, literature, science, and math will be studied.
