Groton girls breeze past Oakes

• Courtney Kurtz powered in 20 points, led the team with six of the team's 12 steals, had three assists and two rebounds as the Groton girls defeated Oakes, 54-36.
• Carly Wheeting had 12 points followed by Kylie Hawkins and Ashley Gibbs with five each, Halle Dohman and Tori Bjerke each had four, Camille Sippel had three and Natalia Dohman one.
• Groton made 22 of 67 field goals, seven of 11 free throws off of Oakes' 16 team fouls, had 25 rebounds, 14 assists with Sippel, Hawkins and Kurtz each having three, and seven turnovers.
• The Tigers led at the quarterstops at 14-8, 31-18 and 42-30.
• Groton won the junior varsity game, 65-26. For the second time this year, everyone on the junior varsity team scored: Audrey Wanner and Katie Koehler each had 13, Natalia Dohman nine, Ashley Gibbs eight, Torri Bjerke and Nicole Fey six each, Rachel Blackmun five, Marlee Jones four and Emilie Locke one.
• Groton led at the quarterstops at 17-4, 30-8 and 56-13.
• The junior varsity team is now 4-1.
