• Helen Louise was born on June 16, 1921 in Lidgerwood, North Dakota to James and Stacey (Becvar) Pavek. She attended school in Claremont, graduating in 1938. She continued her education at Northern Normal College in Aberdeen, where she earned her teaching certificate. On November 26, 1942, she united in marriage with Emery Stohr in Aberdeen and together they made their home in Clare

mont until his death in 2002. Helen taught country school near Claremont for six years.
• Helen had many varied interests. Her baked goods were often the center of many debates among her children, grandchildren, and extended family, as everyone was certain their personal favorite was her very best creation--her angel food cake, chocolate chip cookies, and brownies were the top contenders. Gardening was her therapy, a place where she experimented with different plant varieties to paint her floral landscape. Her love for reading inspired a love for travel. Each visit to a new state was incomplete without a visit to the state capitol and it was next to impossible to pass a sign for an antique store without making a detour. And, perhaps most importantly, was her love for shopping and the eternal search for the perfect pair of jeans. She was an active member of many clubs over the years including Investment Club, Study Club, and bowling with the Lucky Coins. She was also a lifelong member of the Catholic Church in Groton.
• But Helen's greatest love and joy was her family. She is survived by her children Jeff (Faye) Stohr, son Jake of Aberdeen; Kim (Jeanne) Stohr of Anchorage, Alaska, daughter Adrienne (Ryan) Lewis of Denver, CO, son Matthew (Kim) Stohr of Anchorage, son Zachary (Rachael) Stohr of Anchorage; Christine Milanovich of Moultonborough, New Hampshire, son Sam (Suzanne) of Milwaukee, WI, son Nicholas of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Stacey of Moultonborough, WI, daughter Elizabeth of Boston, MA; and Sarah (Mark) Cotrupi, daughters Helen and Mary Lynn of Moultonborough, New Hampshire; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, Mead Lewis, Natalie Stohr, Gavyn Stohr, Brandon Stohr, and Henry Milanovich. Also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Huber, nieces Tracy Jensen, Amy Jensen, Sherry Heppner, and nephew David Jensen. Preceding her in death were her husband Emery, her parents James and Stacey, her brother Butch, her sister Mary Lynn Jensen, her nephew Stanley Pavek, and her son-in-law Sam Milanovich.
