• State Court Administrator Greg Sattizahn said the South Dakota Unified Judicial System believes expansion of the program will cut juvenile detention significantly throughout the state. South Dakota's detention numbers probably exceeded the national average in the past decade because officials were too ready to use secure detention instead of other programs for juveniles who posed no risk to public safety, he said.
• "The last couple of years I think we've really started to show a commitment toward reducing the levels of secured detention for juveniles," Sattizahn said.

Rapid City Fox affiliate sold to Gray Television

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The station that broadcasts Fox programming to the Black Hills region has been sold.
• Atlanta-based Gray Television Inc. says it bought KEVN-TV in Rapid City and its satellite station in Lead (LEED) for $7.75 million in cash from Mission TV LLC.
• KEVN General Manager Cindy McNeill says everyone's excited because Gray will bring resources to the station it hasn't had available.
• Last month, Gray bought KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls and its satellite stations, which broadcast ABC programming.

Garoppolo, West, Daly lead AP FCS All-America team

• Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and fellow Walter Payton Award finalist Terrance West of Towson were selected to The Associated Press FCS All-America team released Wednesday.
• Garoppolo passed for 5,050 yards and 53 touchdowns and won the Payton award as the top player in FCS. The senior led Eastern Illinois (12-2) to the quarterfinals of the NCAA playoffs. He is the second EIU player to win the Payton award, joining Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (2002).
• West has run for 2,295 yards and tied an FCS record with 39 touchdowns to help Towson (12-2) reach this weekend's semifinals after it eliminated Eastern Illinois last week.
• Montana State defensive end Brad Daly, who won the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in FCS, was selected to the first-team defense, along with cornerback Marcus Williams of two-time defending national champion North Dakota State.
