Cooper announces lawsuit against online lender

• RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Officials in North Carolina are suing an out-of-state online lender, its related companies and their owner for offering loans that in some cases charge borrowers up to 342 percent interest.
• N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper and the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks filed suit Monday against Western Sky Financial, CashCall, related companies and owner John Paul Reddam for violating state laws banning outrageous interest rates on small consumer loans.
• Cooper's office said a similar lawsuit has been filed in Colorado.
• South Dakota-based Western Sky says it's exempt from state laws that ban its loans because it claims to be an Indian tribal entity.
• The complaint says loans of $850 to $10,000 charged annual interest rates from 89.68 percent to 342.86 percent, far above what state law allows.

Fox TV back on eastern South Dakota Dish signal

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Dish Network viewers in eastern South Dakota can watch their Fox TV shows again.
• The satellite provider says it has reached an agreement with KTTW-TV in Sioux Falls.
• Terms of the deal were not released.
• Dish stopped carrying the Fox station on Sept. 25 because of a contract dispute.

Watertown man remembers Laughlin of "Billy Jack"

• WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) -- The college roommate of actor Tom Laughlin remembers him as more gentle than his on-screen character in the "Billy Jack" film.
• Laughlin played football at the University of South Dakota and went on to produce the movie released in 1971 after a long struggle to gain control of the low-budget, self-financed movie.
• He died Thursday in California at age 82 of complications from pneumonia.
• Longtime Watertown radio broadcaster Don Egert was Laughlin's roommate at
