• The boys varsity game was close in the first quarter as the Titans had the early lead. The game was tied at two, four and nine before Groton took the lead after Kasey Kurtz stole the ball and made the lay-up to give Groton an 11-9 lead. That was a five-point Groton rally as just seconds before that, Reilly Ell stole the ball, made the layup, was fouled and made the basket for the three-point play. That prompted a quick time-out by the Titans. Kurtz then followed with a three-pointer and Ell added a three-pointer two minutes later.  Groton led, 19-17, after the first quarter.
• Spencer Knecht opened the second quarter with a three-pointer Ell followed with a basket as Groton took a 24-17 lead. Groton would go on a nine-point run to take a 28-17. Groton led, 29-23, at half time.
• "We were a step slow," said Groton Coach Greg Kjellsen. "Defensively in the first half we weren't moving our feet very well. This caused us to foul too much and when our help got there it left open rebounders. The second half we did a much better job of containing their dribble penetration."
• Groton would surge ahead by 12 in
