for Thorson during his absence. "We have to make sure the kids are taken care of," said Board Member Marty Weismantel. At that point, the board decided to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
• After the board came out of executive session, the board voted unanimously to deny Thorson's request for Sabbatical Leave. The board members conveyed the feeling that there would not be enough academic benefit for the trip.


• Joe Schwan reported on the new governor's proposal to increase spending to secondary education. This year he is planning for a 3 percent increase which is above the 1.8 percent that was set by law. In addition, he proposes that the minimum yearly proposal would be 2 percent.
• The district survey results were reviewed. There were 190 responses to the survey. Schwan said they will use the information to see what areas can be improved.
• Work is currently underway in developing a shared vision and mission of the athletic program to help improve the program. Five coaches, the athletic director and a board member will be on the board to discuss op
