Shot fired in armed robbery of Sioux Falls store

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police are searching for two suspects in a convenience store robbery in which a shot was fired at a clerk.
• Authorities say two men entered the Cubby's store about 1 a.m. Friday, both armed with semi-automatic handguns. They robbed the clerk of an undetermined amount of money, and one of them fired a shot as they were fleeing the store. The bullet missed the clerk.
• Authorities say the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.

SD Regents approve 3 new minor degrees at USD

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The state Board of Regents has given the University of South Dakota approval to offer three new minor degrees aimed at helping graduates prepare for careers in a wide range of fields.
• The minors are in child and adolescent development, inter-professional disabilities services and teaching K-12 English as a new language.
• Officials say the minor in child and adolescent development will give students skills that can could be particularly valuable in health or counseling fields
• The minor in inter-professional disabilities services provides training in health sciences, medicine, education and arts and sciences for graduates who will work to help people with disabilities.
• The minor in K-12 English as a new language will help teachers working with students who are just learning English.
• The new minor degrees will use existing courses.

Wind Cave bird count planned for Dec. 15

• WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. (AP) -- Wind Cave National Park will hold its 18th annual Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 15.
• People wishing to participate should meet at the visitor center at 8 a.m. Participants are asked to dress warmly and bring a lunch, field guides, binoculars, something to share for dinner and a place setting.
• Participants will return to the visitor center at 4:15 p.m. to compile results and share in a potluck dinner.
• The Christmas Bird Count is patterned after the National Audubon Society's effort to document trends in wintering birdlife throughout the United States. The count area will include all of Wind Cave National Park and areas of the Black Hills National
