October Students of the Month

The October Students of the Month at Groton Area Middle and High School include two sets of siblings.  Seventh grader Anne Marie Smith and freshman Erin Smith were selected as well as eighth grader Alexis Gustafson and junior Taylor Gustafson. Other students named are senior Joellen Gonsoir, sophomore Marlee Jones and sixth grader Madeline Schuelke. It is also interesting to note that all of the Students of the Month for October are girls.

Madeline Schuelke is a sixth grader and is the daughter of Austin and Deb Schuelke. Other family members are Clare Schuelke, Eileen Schuelke and Bill Schuelke.
• Madeline's activities include dance, gymnastics, volleyball, ice skating, Storybook Land Theatre, the School Play and Destination Imagination. Her accomplishments including winning the essay contest to take a free trip to Washington, D.C., and being on the winning team at state for Destination Imagination and going to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. Her interests are knitting, crocheting and acting. Her favorite subject is art and her future plans vary from being a lawyer, a photographer or a teacher. Her role model is her dad and Craig McCarthy.

Anne Marie Smith is a seventh grader and is the daughter of Dr. Steve and Carol Smith. Her siblings are Sam, Marah, Luke, Erin and Isaac.
• Anne Marie's activities include being the school play, "I Hate Shakespeare," MathCounts, Destination Imagination, cross-country, track, Carnival of Silver Skates
