Board to discuss changing name of Squaw Creek

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The state Board on Geographic Names meets this week to decide whether to rename Squaw Creek in eastern South Dakota.
• The board recommended it be changed to Isanti Creek, which is the Dakota word for Santee.
• The creek near Trent in Moody County is where tribal members camped and lived. It was originally named for an American Indian woman who drowned in the creek.
• The board meets Wednesday and also plans to discuss proposed legislation for the upcoming legislative session.

November winter wheat price down slightly

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The U.S. Agriculture Department says that the preliminary winter wheat price is down slightly in South Dakota.
• The South Dakota office of the National Agriculture Statistics Service says preliminary prices received by farmers for winter wheat in November averaged $6.45 per bushel, down 28 cents from last month.
• The preliminary November spring wheat price, at $6.70 per bushel, is down 34 cents from last month.
• Oats, at $3.43 per bushel, are down 11 cents from last month, and corn, at $3.82 per bushel, is down 40 cents from last month.
• Soybeans are up 10 cents to $12.40, and sunflowers, at $17.70, are down $4.60 from last month.
• The November alfalfa price, at $155 per ton, is down $11.00 from last month.

IPFW beats Eastern Illinois 71-65

• CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) -- Steve Forbes scored a game-high 19 points with eight rebounds as IPFW posted a 71-65 victory over Eastern Illinois Wednesday night.
• Forbes went 8 of 11 from the field and hit 3 of 4 from the line. He was joined by Michael Kibiloski who scored 12 points and Joe Edwards with 11 points, two rebounds and three assists.
