Well Driller is in town

• The well driller arrived in Groton on Monday and restarted the drilling process for a new well for the Olive Grove Golf Course.
• The well is being dug to replace the school wellhouse that was taken out of service when the new addition was built.

With the old school wellhouse, water was running freely through the city's storm sewer system and eventually ended up at the golf course where they pumped the water into its holding pond.
• The school paid to have the well removed by paying for the removal and capping of the well. The city had an agreement that a replacement well would be dug for the golf course.
• Preliminary drilling indicated that there would be a good source of water at this location on the south end of the golf course.
