Crews tearing down 4-H hall at state fair in Huron

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- Crews have started demolishing a building that housed 4-H exhibits and competitions at the South Dakota State Fair since the 1950s.
• The state Agriculture Department says Clover Hall started coming down last week.
• A campaign for a new building to replace it is taking donations over three years. The state says $1.5 million toward the $4 million goal has been raised.
• The new hall will feature multiple classrooms, a large kitchen for 4-H special foods competitions, year-round concessions and a performance stage.

Governor urges safe Thanksgiving holiday travel

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking South Dakotans to be safety conscious as they travel over Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend.
• The state last year had no highway fatalities during the Thanksgiving Day travel reporting period. It marked the first time in a decade that has happened.
• South Dakota recorded 225 highway crashes during the Thanksgiving Day reporting period in 2012, and 48 people were injured. Fifteen of the crashes were alcohol related.
• The national Thanksgiving Day holiday fatality reporting period this year runs from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.
• Daugaard is urging motorists to wear seatbelts, obey posted speed limits and avoid distractions.

South Dakota State eases past Howard 77-65

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Cody Larson scored a career-high 24 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and had three blocked shots to lead South Dakota State to a 77-65 victory over Howard Monday night.
• Anders Broman contributed a career-high 16 points and Jordan Dykstra, who pulled down 11 rebounds, had 14 points for the Jackrabbits.
• South Dakota State (2-4) took a 12-0 lead as Howard (2-5), which was only 16-of-55 from the floor for the game, could not get going. The Bison did close to 37-30 on a Prince Okoroh layup to start the final period. Larson then made four free throws on two different trips to the line, Broman hit two consecutive 3-pointers and Larson added layup to put the Jackrabbits out front 49-35. Howard never recovered from that run.
