West Central rallies to win 11A title over Madison

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Running back Jace Hanisch threw two touchdown passes to Cody Bussell, including the game winner with 19 seconds left, as West Central beat Madison 28-21 for the state 11A championship.
• On third-and-15 and the game tied at 21, Hanisch took a pitch and ran to his left before hitting Bussell for 39 yards to give the Trojans their 12th state title Thursday.
• The combination also connected on a 20-yarder as the Trojans (10-2) came back from a 21-7 deficit.
• Bussell ran for 63 of West Central's 251 yards. Cole Tirrel led the Spartans with 90 yards and TD runs of 25 and 15 yards.
• Madison's Jacob Giles threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 16-yard run.
• Rush Milne ran for 58 yards for Madison (11-1) and scored on a 63-yard pass.
• Preston Nordling caught seven passes for 115 yards.

Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan tops Arlington in 9AA win

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Wade Miller ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan to a 36-6 win over Arlington Thursday in the state 9AA championship game.
• Jordan Grosdidier led the Seahawks (11-1) in rushing with 122 yards and a touchdown. Blake Bartscher completed all three passes for 64 yards and a TD.
• Bridgewater had a 347-291 edge in total yardage. But Arlington was hurt by three interceptions, one that led to a Bridgewater TD and another in the end zone after driving 85 yards.
• Andrew King was 8-for-16 passing for 120 yards for Arlington (10-2). He also ran for a team-high 82 yards and a touchdown.
• It was the third state title in four years for the Seahawks, whose schools have won seven titles between them. BEE won titles in 2010 and 2011.
Its scores included an 11-play, 99-yard drive that ate up 6:33 of the clock.


Potter County stops Leola-Frederick for 9A title

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Chayce Hall passed for a record 466 yards and eight touchdowns to lead Potter County to a 60-22 win over Leola-Frederick in the South Dakota 9A championship game on Thursday.
• Hall set the all-class record for passing yards in a title game while leading the
