• The high scorer for the Coyotes (1-2) was Nicole Seekamp with 21 points and a team-high seven assists. Raeshel Contreras came off the bench to score 15 points for South Dakota.

Purdue beats IUPUI 76-56

• INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- KK Houser scored 20 points and led No. 18 Purdue to a 76-56 victory over IUPUI on Wednesday night.
• Houser was 5 of 7 from the floor, hit 2 of 3 from 3-point range and 8-of-10 free throws for the Boilermakers (2-0). She also had four steals and two assists. Teammate Courtney Moses had 13 points, two steals and one assist. Whitney Bays came off the bench to score 13 points with four rebounds, two steals and one assist. The Boilermakers hit 82 percent of their free throws.
• Purdue led 32-26 at the half and were able to open up a 16-point lead by holding IUPUI (1-1) scoreless for the first seven minutes of the second half.
• Katie Comello came off the bench to lead the Jaguars with 11 points and three assists. Starting forward Akilah Sims had 11 points, two rebounds and one assist.


SD mom's blog about bullying draws praise, ire

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota mother is the target of both praise and criticism after she blogged that kids being bullied should toughen up.
• Stephanie Metz's wide-ranging post, which spread on Facebook after she shared a link, was as much about oversensitive modern parents as it was about kids.
• "The main message is 'don't be afraid to parent your kids.' They need to deal with some hardships," the 29-year-old mother of two from Rapid City said Wednesday by phone.
• "It's not our job to be our children's friend and make life easy for them," she added.
• The Oct. 25 post on "The Metz Family" blog was titled "Why My Kids Are NOT the Center of My World." Its original audience was eight friends and family members who have followed the blog since her first son was born four years ago and who live out of state.
• Metz said she posted a link to the blog on Facebook, her friend shared it and
