Piebald deer

• Joe Foertsch, Groton, shot this Piebald Deer around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. He first spotted the deer on Sunday on his trail camera. He shot the deer with his bow around 5 p.m. Tuesday and plans to get a front half mount.
• Piebald deer (partially white) are from a recessive genetic trait and the deer usually become more prevalent due to overpopulation of a deer herd.

Deylon Patrick Johnson

Deylon Patrick Johnson was born to Matt and Tanya Johnson, Groton. He was born Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen. Grandparents are Roger and Diane Johnson, Groton; and Brian and Tammy Olson, Britton. Great-grandparents are Marvin and Doris "Tug" Beck, Hecla.
