The Life of Darlene Nehls

• Darlene M. (Koehler) Nehls, 76, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Groton, died on Tuesday November 5, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
• Darlene graduated from Groton High School in 1955. She married Lyle Nehls of Groton and to this union five children were born. In 1980 she moved to Phoenix Arizona where she worked in accounts receivable at Phoenix Memorial Hospital. In 1994 she moved back to Groton to care for her ailing mother Josephine Koehler. She returned to Phoenix in April of 2001.
• She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Josephine Koehler, her brother Jerrold Koehler and 3 children Pam, Shane and Kelly. She is survived by son Daniel Nehls of Coolidge, Arizona, her sister Jean (Koehler) Hanson of Aberdeen, South Dakota,

Brother Donald Koehler of Groton and daughter Kari (Nehls) Crisafulli of Phoenix. She is also survived by the loves of her life, grandchildren Shane, Daniel James, Cory Nehls of Phoenix, Colby Nehls of Brighton, Colorado, Nicholas and Hunter Crisafulli of Phoenix and her great grandchildren Christian, Alexia, Eden Rayne, Selene and Ezio of Brighton, Colorado. Darlene is also survived by her beloved friends Bert and Judi (Letner), formerly of Sioux Falls, Keller, now of Phoenix and great niece Rebecca McGannon of Phoenix, Arizona as well as many other family members.
• One of Darlene's proudest accomplishments was raising her four grandsons Cory, Colby, Nicholas and Hunter. Besides her grandchildren, her other passion was gardening, including the greenhouse she owned in Waubay. No matter where Darlene lived she always had the most beautiful yard and the prettiest flowers.
• Darlene will always be remembered as a loving person who cared for so many others.
• Memorials will be used to help with the education of the grandchildren she was raising.
