• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The federal government has given South Dakota $1.3 million to expand access to health care in the state.
• The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the funding is being made available by the Affordable Care Act.
• South Dakota health centers last year served almost 56,000 patients and 36 percent of them uninsured. The agency says the grant will help care for approximately 7,700 additional South Dakotans by establishing new health center service delivery sites.
• Nationwide, about $150 million in grants are being awarded to 236 health center programs.

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- The suspension of the police chief in the eastern South Dakota city of Brookings has been narrowed to two weeks.
• City Manager Jeff Weldon earlier this week said Chief Jeff Miller was suspended without pay indefinitely for violating personnel policies. He now says the suspension is two weeks and is retroactive to Nov. 1, meaning Miller can return to work next Friday.
• City officials have not provided details on the suspension, citing privacy rules.
