making a Bookmark, then Eye Glasses, a Monogram and ended with a Watercolor Castle. They are learning to make things three-dimensional and to add shadows.

8th Grade Art - Janene Harry
• The eighth graders are applying some of their math skills in Art this quarter. They started with a Monogram pattern and put it in a circular design. Then they started with perspective! The first project was with 1 point perspective and they used their name as the design. Then they made it look like it had edges. The next project was to create a maze using two point perspective. The maze must have a way in and a way out and difficulty is stressed. Their final project was making something from clay and glazing it.

• They are sure an energetic group this year! They have weekly sketchbook assignments, for the first quarter they were all assigned and now they have a choice one week and an architect the next week. The first few projects were done using charcoal and carbothellos. Then they had to create a three dimensional form by making a paper pattern and then cutting it out of tagboard. The design had to wrap around and match up on all sides. They also did a linoleum reduction print, which means they reduced the printing surface to add more colors. The students are now working on a project that will be displayed at the Veteran's Day Program.

• During the quarter they will have weekly sketchbook assignments to do. This quarter the assignments will alternate between choice and an architect. Their first project was a study of a famous artist. They reproduced a small portion with acrylics on a mini canvas. The next project was a large colored pencil drawing with a subject of their choice. They are working on drawing different facial features to prepare for their self portrait. They can bring in any age photo to work from. They are also working on a Veteran's Day project for the program at school on November 11.

• These students are also responsible for weekly sketchbook assignments. They did small acrylic painting studies of an artist's work to start off the year. They have been given a list off different mediums that they will do projects from. They write up a lesson plan describing what their project is, the supplies needed, the steps to complete it and approximately how long it will take. Right now they are working on a Veteran's Day project to be displayed at the program. Please be sure to check them out.
