Community Center to get professional cleaned

• The council reviewed pictures from the Groton Community Center and the baseball park concession stand. The council decided that both buildings need to be professionally cleaned. Mary Fliehs and Michelle Muilenberg are on the community center committee and will find out who may be able to get the community center cleaned before the community Thanksgiving Day dinner. They will also explore the option have having the concession stand professionally cleaned as well.
• Santa Day has been set for December 21 at the high school gym with inflatables and art projects once again.
• The mayor appointed David McGannon to attend the WEB Water annual meeting set for December 7. Mayor Scott Hanlon said he may also attend the meeting.
• The Heartland meeting has been rescheduled for November 21 in Groton.
• A representative from Associated Pool Builders will be coming later this week to go over some issues at the pool. The Tiger Slide is also going back to the manufacture for a second time to deal with pealing paint on the slide.
• The 2013 curb and gutter special assessment role was presented. The average price was $33.19 per foot and the estimated price was $36. The payments will start next year and will be listed on your property tax report. Anyone age 65 and older and is in financial need can compete paperwork to defer payments until the house is sold. Contact City Hall for details.

Warming House Attendants Needed

Applications will be accepted for part-time warming house attendant for skating for the City of Groton until 11/18/13.  Contract City Finance Office, 209 N Main St, PO Box 587, Groton, SD  57445 or call 397-8422 for an application. EOE.
