SD Library expands access to electronic resources

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota State Library is making available more electronic books and two electronic resources dealing with language courses and auto repair.
• Mango Languages offers courses in more than 60 languages, starting with basic courses and progressing to more in-depth skills. ChiltonLibrary puts car and truck manuals online with monthly updates.
• The language and car repair databases are available in public libraries and at schools. South Dakotans also can access them online from home at http://library.sd.gov with a barcode and password issued by the State Library.
• In addition, people in 71 communities can now download more electronic books and audiobooks through their local libraries. The State Library has purchased more than 1,300 additional electronic books and audiobooks, expanding the South Dakota Titles To Go collection to more than 10,000 titles.

Former Utah Gov. Huntsman speaking in Sioux Falls

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Former Utah governor and U.S. ambassador to China Jon Huntsman is speaking in Sioux Falls Monday night.
• Huntsman, a 2012 Republican presidential candidate, will discuss the "Geopolitics of China and the U.S." at 7 p.m. at Augustana College. He's the latest speaker for the Boe Forum on Public Affairs, presented annual by the Center for Western Studies,
• Past Boe Forum speakers include former President George H.W. Bush, former Vice President Al Gore, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Queen Noor of Jordan and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

SD city provides $500,000 for affordable housing

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The city of Sioux Falls is contributing $500,000 for affordable housing projects next year.
• Darrin Smith, director of community development, tells The Argus Leader (http://argusne.ws/16wTfK5 ) that Sioux Falls is seeing an increasing need for affordable housing. More than 3,500 people are on the waiting list for rental assistance, and
