KOTA-TV group sold to Schurz Communications

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Duhamel Broadcasting Enterprises has sold KOTA-TV in Rapid City and its affiliated stations in Nebraska and Wyoming to Schurz Communications Inc.
• Duhamel president and general manager Bill Duhamel announced it Thursday.
• KOTA reports (http://bit.ly/1ct5DzE ) the sale is pending regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission, which typically can take at least 90 days.
• Duhamel Broadcasting will continue to operate its five Black Hills radio stations.
• Schurz is headquartered in South Bend, Ind. It operates six local radio stations in the Black Hills and also owns the Aberdeen American News.
• Its senior vice president of the electronic division, Marci Burdick, is a Rapid City native and was a former KOTA news anchor and news director.
• KOTA's satellite stations are KHSD in Lead-Deadwood, KSGW in Sheridan, Wyo., and KDUH in Scottsbluff, Neb.

1 dead in SD shooting involving law officer

• FORT THOMPSON, S.D. (AP) -- The FBI says one male is dead and another is being sought after a shooting in South Dakota's Buffalo County that involved law enforcement.
• Agent Kyle Loven says the person who died near Fort Thompson on Wednesday afternoon "actively engaged law enforcement" but he is releasing few details. He says no law officers were hurt.
• KELO-TV reports the shooting happened following a pursuit of the suspect on Highway 34. Loven did not provide details of the pursuit or what prompted it.
• Loven tells KCCR and KGFX radio that authorities are seeking another man for questioning. He tells KSFY-TV that he does not believe the public is in danger.

SD Supreme Court to review vehicular homicide case

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says his office will appeal to the state Supreme Court a judge's decision to grant a new trial to a Belle Fourche man serving 25 years for a fatal accident conviction.
