Rapid City police chase suspect out of hospital

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A Kyle man injured in a fatal police chase in Rapid City is out of the hospital and in jail.
• Authorities say 36-year-old Jimmy Pilcher was transferred to jail Thursday and made his initial court appearance Friday.
• He's charged with driving under revocation, driving under the influence, aggravated eluding, manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
• Bond was set at $500,000 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.
• Authorities were chasing Pilcher on Oct. 11 when his car ran a red light in Rapid City and was hit by another car. A passenger in that vehicle was killed and the driver and several others were injured in the crash that involved four vehicles.
• Court records indicate Pilcher has a history of reckless driving.
• He doesn't yet have an attorney.

Rapid City hotel shooting wounds 1; suspect flees

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Rapid City police are investigating a shooting at a hotel that wounded a man, and searching for the suspect.
• Officers were called to the Budget Host Inn about 2:30 a.m. Friday for a report of shots fired. They found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a hospital. Police did not state his condition.
• Authorities say initial reports indicate the man was in a room with several people. They say a male relative of a woman in the room came there, got into an argument, and pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim after being told to leave.
• The suspect fled and police are continuing to search for him.

Ark. Democrats look for boost from shutdown
