Memorial services for Larry Keith Pharis, 74, Sioux Falls and formerly of Aberdeen, will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Aberdeen, with Pastor Eldon Reich officiating. Inurnment at Groton Union Cemetery, Groton. Larry died Monday, October 21, 2013 at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, SD. A time to sign the register book will be 1:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

The Groton Garden club met at the home of Suzy Oliver with Elda Stange assisting. Vice president, Suzy Oliver, opened the meeting in due form with nine members and one guest answering roll call with a crop grown locally. The guest was Brook Gengerke. Several memorials given in Renee McKiver's name were announced. Plans have begun for the Smokey Bear Woodsy Owl poster contest for grades 2-5. Tree business will be discussed next meeting. The next meeting will be November 18, at 5:30 with Janice Fliehs and Eunice McCollister assisting and giving the program. Linda Gengerke gave the program on aronia berries, a new crop being grown in South Dakota and other Midwestern States.
