Wildcats hand Groton 3-1 loss

• Northwestern handed the girls a 3-1 loss in volleyball action played Tuesday in Groton.
• In the first game, Northwestern led all the way with a 25-11 win.
• The second game was more competitive with the game being tied nine times as Groton led early in the game. After a tie at 14, Northwestern took the lead and went on for the win, 25-18.
• The third game was close at the beginning with the game being tied eight times and there were four lead changes. After the match was tied at 11, the Wildcats scored seven straight points to take an 18-11 lead. Groton was trailing, 20-14, when the Tigers started to rally. Groton scored eight unanswered points to take a 22-20 lead. The game was tied at 22 and 23. The Wildcats took a 24-23 lead, but a block by Halle Dohman tied the game at 24. The Tigers scored the last two points of the game to win, 26-24.
