• The Sioux horse effigy is being moved this week from a Pierre museum to become part of the exhibit "The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky." The exhibit is making stops in Kansas City, New York and Paris, and officials expect about 1 million people to view it.
• The 3-foot-long wooden artifact depicts a horse wounded in battle. Officials believe a Lakota warrior carved it about 1875.
• This is the first time in more than 35 years that the effigy will leave the state's possession. It won't return until 2015.
