• Jackson Doeden had five tackles and two fumble recoveries, Wyatt Larson and Austin Merkel each had four tackles and Stevie Fey had a touchdown fumble recovery. Bailyn Bursheim and Gabe Guy each had six tackles for Tiospa Zina.
• "My goal was to run 15-20 players for the varsity team and let the JV kids play the rest of the game," Wanner said. "We have a big game on Thursday and we have to win to get into the playoffs." Groton will travel to Sisseton on Thursday for the last regular season game. "A couple of other teams won that I didn't expect so that put a wrinkle in our playoffs. You just never know what will happen. That's why we have to win this game. Sisseton always seems to be ready to play us. We'll have to turn it up a notch."
• Groton is now 3-4 on the season while Tiospa Zina is 1-6.
