• Five years ago: Wall Street ended a tumultuous week that turned out to be its best in five years. • One year ago: Federal authorities in New York said a Bangladeshi student was arrested in an FBI sting after he tried to detonate a phony 1,000-pound truck bomb outside the Federal Reserve building in Manhattan. (Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis later pleaded guilty to attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to al-Qaida and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.) Nike said it was cutting its ties with Lance Armstrong, citing insurmountable evidence that the cyclist participated in doping and misled the company for more than a decade. The St. Louis Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series by beating San Francisco 3-1 in a game delayed three and a-half hours by rain at Busch Stadium.
