Groton seventh wins MathCounts Competition

• The Groton Area Invitational MathCounts Competition was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the high school gym.  Ninety-four students from eight Aberdeen area schools (Britton-Hecla, Frederick, Holgate, Northwestern, Roncalli, Simmons, Temple Builders Academy and Groton) participated in the event, which was sponsored by 3M of Aberdeen.  A Groton seventh grade team won the seventh grade team competition.  Members of the team were:  Kaitlyn Anderson, Tylan Glover, Alexis Simon, and AnneMarie Smith.  In the individual seventh grade portion of the competition, two Groton students received certificate awards:  Micah Poor, second place and AnneMarie Smith, fourth place.  
• The next junior high competition will be the Roncalli Invitational MathCounts Competition on Wednesday, Nov.  6.
