fundraiser.  It will be held at the legion hall from 6pm until midnight.  Top prize will be a Polaris Sportsman 500 Four Wheeler.  Other items you might win include an Ipad as well as one $100 and six $50 prizes.  There will be an all-you-can-eat buffet and beverages as well as numerous raffles ongoing throughout the evening.  I've attended this event for the last three years and I've always had a wonderful time.  The food is fabulous and the turn out is awesome.  Tickets are available for purchase at Holland's Auto Care in Claremont or from any fireman.  Mark your calendar now so you don't forget about your chance to win some amazing prizes while enjoying some delicious food, beverages and visits with some of the friendliest people around!
• Last week I heard that South Dakota could possibly see some snow over the weekend so I packed my bags and headed north.  I returned Monday evening and learned that the Claremont part of South Dakota didn't receive any snow.  It followed me to Bismarck!  I sat on the couch Friday afternoon with the drapes open, watching in disbelief as the rain slowly changed to snow.  I'm not sure why I decided I should make a quick trip to  Walmart but I headed out the door and was shocked at just how nasty it actually was.  The wind was blowing, slapping heavy wet snow everywhere.  When I got to the store I was so happy once I was finally in the door only to find out that all the shopping carts were either in use or outside!  I knew I would pick up more than what I could carry in my hands so I went splashing through the parking lot, picked up a cart and headed back to the store to stock up for the winter.....er....I mean....weekend.  It wasn't any nicer when I finished shopping.  If possible, I think it was worse.  I trudged through and made my way back home with wet socks, wet boots, wet hoodie, wet cap, wet jeans and wet groceries.  Fall returned again on Sunday and what a welcome sight it was!  My shopping experience helped to convince me even more so, that I am NOT READY FOR WINTER!
• I hope you had a wonderful week.  I would love to include your adventures in next week's news so be sure to give me a call.  There's no reason you shouldn't be a part of the incredible amount of positive feedback I receive when people read the good old "Claremont News!"  I know I'm not the only one that has tried to swallow the moon, cleaned a few cobwebs and has voluntarily gotten soaked from head to toe by solid rain!  Have a great week!  Enjoy the fall colors that are making their way onto our canvas and try to remember only the good stuff!  The rest is just not worth hanging onto!
