Defensive leaders for Groton were Kasey Kurtz with nine tackles and five sacks, Spencer Knecht with eight tackles and two sacks, Jackson Doeden had seven tackles, Alec Oleson had two sacks and a fumble recovery, and having one sack each were Wyatt Larson, Mason Madsen and Carter Jondahl.
• Milbank was led by Tanner Gauer and Wyatt Goestchins with 16 tackles each.
• Groton, now 2-4 on the season, will take next week off. The Tigers will host Tiospa-Zina on Oct. 18 for the final home game of the season. Wanner said that Tiospa-Zina is working on getting used to 11-man football. "There is always a transition when you switch from 9 man to 11 man and vise versa," Wanner said.  "This game was a confidence booster for us. We need to get ourselves to .500 and into the playoffs."
• The football field withstood the pounding. "I thought our field was in excellent condition," Wanner said. "Chuck (Padfield) does a good job with it. He kept the grass a little bit high so it wouldn't get so muddy. After the second delay, I was a little concerned as we had standing water on the field after the big rain. Our groundskeeper are always important and they do a good job."
