• "This is a game they will always remember," said Coach Shaun Wanner after Groton and Milbank battled it out with heavy rain, strong wind, lightning and cold weather. The start of the game was delayed by 30 minutes as a thunderstorm went through Groton. Then in the fourth quarter, there was a 49 minute delay as another thunderstorm went through Groton. When it was all said done by 10:26 p.m., Groton had a 20-7 homecoming win over Milbank.
• "I thought our kids on the line did a good job," Wanner said. "This was a game where we had to move the ball quite a bit. It windy, wet and cold. Sheldon Herr, Wyatt Larson, Nick Dalchow, Dylan Vogel, Jackson Doeden and Matt Knecht did a good job blocking up front. "They did a great job. We had 21 first downs and over 300 yards rushing. Parker Rossow made some good passes and it's hard to throw with the wind." Rossow completed one of three passes for 17 yards with Alec Oleson getting the catch. Milbank's Isaac Snaza completed three of eight passes for 84 yards, 61 of those yards coming from the touchdown catch by Matt Leonards.
