A storm system will begin affecting the region today and will continue through Sunday morning. Widespread rainfall will affect the area today with the rain switching over to snow west of the Missouri River tonight. Snow could continue through the morning hours on Saturday. This area could see several inches of accumulating snowfall, while areas to the east may receive 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. Strong northerly winds will also accompany this system with gusts in excess of 40 mph likely today through Saturday morning.
