4th  Grade - Sue Feldheim and Joel Guthmiller
Salutations from the class of 2022!   We have forty-four fourth graders this year.  Welcome everyone!   And a special welcome to Mrs Fjeldheim our new 4th grade teacher!
• On Thursday, September 26th, we will be attending the annual Northern Prairie Water Festival at Northern State University in Aberdeen.  The primary goal is to educate children about water.  Sessions will be held on ground pollution, wetlands, buoyancy and density, WEB water, and many other interesting topics.  Students have the opportunity to design rain sticks and will enter one from each class in the contest at Northern.
• Please help your child memorize addition and subtraction facts.  The students need a solid foundation with the beginning basic facts to be successful in Math.  We will soon be starting multiplication and division facts.
• Encourage your child to read.  There are many good books for the children to choose from.  Our goal this year is 40pts.  In order to get an AR t-shirt they need 50 pts.  Don't forget www.SpellingCity.com for all our spelling words.
• If you are not familiar with our online viewing of your son or daughter's grades, please stop or call Mrs. Krueger at the elementary school to get set up for this.  A newsletter is also sent home every week to let you know when tests are and what's going on in the classroom.  Also don't forget that our Science, Reading, and AR are now online.

Title I - Nancy Cutler, Lynette Grieve, & Bonnie Schimmel
Welcome to a new school year.  We are excited to continue RtI this year.  We are thrilled to watch our children reap the educational benefits from this process.  What a difference RtI can make in any child.  One of the most valuable parts of the process is the opportunity for the children to work with a highly qualified teacher in a small group setting.  It is a personal approach to teaching.  The process is intensive for the teaching staff and students. Just like anything else, it is worth the extra effort to make RtI happen and measure the growth in children.
• In Title I reading we continue to work on letters, sounds, how vowels work together, decoding, comprehension, fluency, speed and much more.  We will begin to turn our attention to the actual act of reading stories for fluency this next quarter. Along with that we will continue to practice support skills so we don't forget the basics.  Reading practice every day is critical.  Studies show that a child needs 30 minutes of sustained reading practice each day.
• Attitude is another element that is not measurable but crucial.  It is easy to say that you should have a good attitude but when you are a child facing tough tasks
