Authorities work quickly to put out SD wildfire

• DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) -- A small wildfire in the Black Hills was fully contained in a few hours despite adverse conditions that convinced officials to push the "panic button," the chief of the Deadwood volunteer fire department said.
• The so-called Skateboard Fire outside of Deadwood was put out Monday night after firefighters from 10 different departments responded to the blaze. The fire was limited to less than an acre despite the rugged terrain and high winds.
• "Normally, for something this small, we would be the only ones responding," Deadwood volunteer fire department chief Bill Glover told the Black Hills Pioneer (http://bit.ly/19TDU46). "But with the wind and fire danger being high today, we pushed the panic button. We can always send them back."
• The Deadwood department was alerted Monday afternoon by a report of smoke above the city skate park. The fire was caused by a tree falling onto a power line.
• Deadwood firefighters established command and ask for help from the Lead, Brownsville, Nemo, Spearfish and Whitewood volunteer fire departments. Other state, federal and county agencies responded to the fire.
