Dump trailer manufacturer moving headquarters

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- An Iowa-based manufacturer of side dump trailers says it is moving its corporate headquarters to Elk Point.
• SmithCo Manufacturing president Greg Smith says the company has a strong working relationship with the town of Le Mars, Iowa, and that state, and it has every intention of maintaining the bulk of its manufacturing there.
• But Smith says it makes sense to move its corporate office to South Dakota. He says the location will also serve as a new South Dakota sales outpost.
• South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard says he's confident that the move will be positive for the company and result in future economic growth for the community.
• The South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development is providing a low-interest loan for the build-out costs of the new corporate space.
