• "More than 30,000 South Dakotans have been through the program," Bruning said. "It's had an excellent efficacy rate, with 6.29 million tests and a failure rate of less than 1 percent. Montana and North Dakota are now trying it, so we think this is something that has the possibility of decreasing repeat DUI cases in Nebraska."
• An independent study of South Dakota's program released last year showed that it reduced repeat cases of driving under the influence by 12 percent and domestic violence rates by 9 percent.
