• Groton Area has faced its toughest part of the football schedule. "Three of our first four teams have a combined record of 11-1," said Coach Shaun Wanner.  "Now we have to get ready for the second half."
• Redfield-Doland edged Groton, 21-14, in the game played Friday in Groton. "Our kids played so hard," Wanner said. "I thought  this was the best four quarters we played this year."
• In the middle of the second quarter, Redfield had a bad snap on a punt and Groton started its scoring drive from the Redfield 27 yard line. On third and 12, Parker Rossow connected with Jackson Doeden from 15 yards out to put Groton on top. Jacob Milbrandt kicked the PAT and it was a 7-0 lead with 5:30 left in the first half. Groton enjoyed its lead for only 20 seconds. The Pheasants ran the ball back on the kick-off to their own 44 yard line. On the next play, Kyle Stover connected with Ephram Albrecht for a 56 yard pass play as Albrecht scored. The PAT kick by Collin Khebsh was good and the game was tied at seven with 5:10 left in the first quarter.
