Groton upsets unbeaten Mobridge-Pollock

• Mobridge-Pollock was the third ranked team in South Dakota in yesterday's release of the South Dakota polls. They came to Groton to put their undefeated record to the test and failed. Groton Area easily won the first two games, 25-11 and 25-14, but then the match started to heat up. Mobridge-Pollock won the third game, 25-23, and Groton needed extra points to win the fourth game, 28-26.
• Groton had more kills than Mobridge-Pollock, 48-30, and more ace serves, 7-2. Mobridge-Pollock had more digs, 33-28.
• For Groton, the Tigers were 106 of 136 in attacks with 48 kills. Kylie Hawkins was 26 of 31 with 12 kills, Camille Sippel was 25 of 34 with 11 kills and Halle Dohman was 19 of 24 with nine kills.
• Groton was 122 of 128 in sets with 32 assists, Courtney Kurtz was 117 of 121 with 32 assists.
• Groton had 28 digs with Camille Sippel and Skyler Bonn each having six and Kasey Waage five.
• Groton was 88 of 98 in serves with seven ace serves. Camille Sippel was 17 of 18 with three ace serves and Courtney Kurtz was 19 of 21 with two ace serves.
• Groton had one solo block (Halle Dohman) and two assisted blocks (one each by Dohman and Sadie Rogers).
• Groton is now 3-2 and will travel to Roncalli on Thursday. Mobridge-Pollock is now 8-1.
