Clouds will linger across eastern portions of the forecast area through the morning. Otherwise, warm to hot temperatures will be drawn northward ahead of an approaching cold front. This front will bring a few scattered thunderstorms to the area late this afternoon and evening, some of which could be strong to severe, mainly across far northern South Dakota and on up into North Dakota.
